Victoria's largest infrastructure rail project reduces design errors and rework using Snobal.
The team removing the Aviation Road level crossing in Laverton (Western Projects Alliance comprised of McConnell Dowell, Arup, Mott MacDonald) engaged Snobal as their innovation partner to apply our virtual reality solution for design testing and review (XR review) to reduce risks and rework. They also sought to facilitate better understanding and collaboration on design with asset owner (Melbourne Trains Network).
The impact
In Stage 1 Snobal produced a Proof of concept (POC) model based on existing data on one level crossing location.
The POC was used by different stakeholders in the business including the asset owner and manager to assess the value of wider software rollout.
Sufficient value in the product solution was achieved to greenlight rollout of the solution to another level crossing location (Stage 2).
Project currently in Stage 2.
